Sunday Hoon 001 – People Should Start Fucking Reading
It feels like no one reads anymore. Scrolls? Sure. People spend hours staring at mind-numbing reels on Instagram, watching the latest Netflix drama, or wasting time on some bollocks on TikTok…
But reading? Actually stopping to take something in, to think for a second? Now that’s rare.
Despite studying English in school, I’m fully aware I can’t write for shit - hopefully that improves over time.
It’s currently thirteen past twelve on Sunday 12th October, and I’ve suddenly decided to create something that’s been sitting in my head for a while: Sunday Hoon.
What Is Sunday Hoon?
Sunday Hoon started as a thought: what if the best part of car culture isn’t just the car itself, but the drive - the 6am starts, the empty roads, Bicester Heritage Sunday Scrambles, Caffeine & Machine meets, the twat laps around Berkeley Square and down the King’s Road, or Merlin’s famous Classics & Cake events at Selfridges.
I want to build a community - an extension of these fantastic events.
A network of like minded individuals all sharing the same passion for four wheels.
And sure, if I can find a way to monetise the shit out of this and buy my 996 GT3, that’d be a bonus. (More on that another time.)

I’ve got a bunch of ideas for Sunday Hoon. There’s an Instagram page, and it’ll be full of the usual car content.
But more than that, I want to run events, create a WhatsApp community - and give this whole blog writing thing a proper go.
Why the Fuck Reading Matters
If you’re still here, fairplay.
Because very few of us actually read anymore.
Until about forty-two days ago, I didn’t read at all. Then I stupidly decided to do the 75 Hard challenge. For those who don’t know, it involves a bunch of fitness goals, clean eating, and general self-discipline. One of the daily tasks is to read. I’m now obsessed.
I picked up my latest copy of The Road Rat, and for the first time, I could actually appreciate good journalism - talented writing that keeps you hooked.

Another thing I’ve learned from 75 Hard is that I love setting challenges. So part of why I’m writing this blog is to teach myself to write. And, naturally, being a car freak, that’s what I want to write about.
This blog will mostly be car-related ramblings - but also random crap about my life, business, and whatever’s in my head.
That’s the whole point of Sunday Hoon:
To give car culture back its depth.
To write stories worth reading.
To highlight people, businesses, drives, cars, and the weird stuff that makes this scene special.
There’s nothing wrong with YouTube or reels - I’ll still post them.
But this space is for what can’t be squeezed into a 15-second dopamine hit.
The Road Ahead
Every Sunday, I’ll post something new - maybe a story from a weekend drive or car show, maybe an interview, or maybe just a rant about these bloody Chinese EVs clogging up the M25 on my morning commute.
Later, there’ll be meetups, a marketplace to list cars, and a proper way for people to connect. But for now, this is where it starts.
So yeah - people should start fucking reading again.
And if you’ve made it this far, welcome to Sunday Hoon.
Stay tuned.
